BTL / LABORATORY
About the laboratory.
Understanding matter, modelling its transformation and evaluating practical energy applications.
KANGWON NATIONAL UNIVERSITY — BTL
01 / ABOUT THE LAB
Connecting the potential
of biomass with real-world impact.
We study thermochemical processes through experimentation and use quantitative analysis and AI models to evaluate processes, materials and energy systems.
Some publications reflect previous appointments or collaborative projects and are not necessarily outputs of BTL itself.
RESEARCH APPROACH
Four interconnected research directions
01 — Torrefaction / Pyrolysis / HTC
Thermochemical Conversion
Understanding biomass conversion pathways, thermal upgrading and product distributions.
02 — Biochar / Carbon materials
Sustainable Carbon Materials
Exploring the structure, properties and application potential of biochar and advanced carbon.
03 — Machine learning / Optimisation
AI & Process Optimisation
Combining experimental data and physical constraints for prediction and multi-objective optimisation.
04 — Greenhouse energy / Regional resources
Bioenergy Systems
Evaluating resource potential, heating-fuel economics and environmental performance.
